Cupping and Asian Bodywork

Rejuve acupuncture's providers are professional trained and only uses fire cupping. We use a small flame to burn the oxygen inside the cup, which creates a vacuum to allow the cup to have suction on the body.
We use a combination of "running" and "stationary" cupping. Running cupping uses allergen free massage lotion to drag the cup up and down the back, arms, or legs. We use stationary cupping to keep the cups in specific locations for up to 10 minutes. Stationary cupping causes the circular and symmetrical bruises that you may have seen on professional athletes or friends. The bruising is only temporary and never causes any permanent marks on your skin.
Cupping is used to work on the fascia, or connective tissue. We use cupping on our patients to create space between the skin and muscles, between the muscles and to break apart adhesions, or scar tissue.
An easy way to explain the process of cupping is that knots around muscles can be released through pressure but also through grasping.

Tuina and Guasha
Tuina is Chinese bodywork that utilizes the acupuncture points and meridians for massage. The goal of Tuina is similar to cupping in it's effects to create space between muscle groups and break scar tissue or adhesions.
Guasha is popular among chiropractors and physical therapists. While some of these professions attempt to brand it as something new and innovative, the application is the same. Since so many professionals do this procedure, we focus on teaching our patient's how to apply guasha themselves when the condition calls for this treatment.
